Introduction
The Einstein Statue is located in the Constitution Gardens on the southwest corner of the National Mall in Washington. It was commissioned by the National Academy of Sciences to commemorate the centennial of the great physicist's birth, created by sculptor Robert Berks, and unveiled on April 4, 1979 by Einstein's friend and then Israeli President Ephraim Katzir. The bronze statue stands about 4 meters tall and weighs about 4 tons, depicting Einstein in a casual seated posture the scientific giant sits informally on the ground, holding a pipe in his left hand and a paper with equations in his right, with a contemplative smile as if pondering the mysteries of the universe. The statue surface is inscribed with his three major achievements, including the mass-energy equation E=mc squared.
