Introduction

Abe no Seimei Shrine stands in Abeno, Osaka, honouring the birthplace of the famous Heian-era onmyōji Abe no Seimei. His father Yasuna was an Abeno clansman, and Seimei was born nearby around 1007; the grounds hold the 'birthplace' stone and a bath site, with an Edo-era monument. Revived in 1921 as a branch of Abeno-Oji Shrine, the present hall dates to 1925. The daily fortune corner, star motifs and Seimei well make it Osaka's sanctuary for onmyōdō — distinct from Kyoto's Seimei Shrine (his residence).
