Introduction
Set in a restored colonial mansion in Bogotá's La Candelaria district, the Museo Botero grew from a 2000 donation by Colombia's most celebrated painter, Fernando Botero: more than a hundred of his own works alongside dozens of pieces by Picasso, Miró, Chagall, Monet and other masters, all entrusted to the Banco de la República. Botero's inflated, voluptuous figures — the unmistakable 'Boterismo' — are shown here in their fullest range, while the mansion's courtyards and wooden galleries turn the visit into a wander through old Bogotá itself. Admission is free.
