Introduction
Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre stands on the edge of Reykjavík's old harbour and opened in 2011 as Iceland's main venue for performances and conferences. Its facade is a honeycomb of more than a thousand geometric glass panels, inspired by Icelandic basalt columns and shifting in colour with the light and weather. Inside are several halls of different sizes, and it is the home of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and Icelandic Opera, hosting concerts, conferences and exhibitions year-round. Public areas can usually be entered free of charge, while performances require tickets. Opening hours and schedules vary with the season and are subject to local notice.
