Introduction
Set in the vaulted cellars of Echternach's abbey, this museum tells the thousand-year story of its Benedictine community. The stars are reproductions of medieval illuminated manuscripts: the abbey's scriptorium was once among Europe's finest, and its Golden Gospels and related masterpieces now sit in libraries abroad, reunited here through meticulous facsimiles. Displays also cover the abbey's architectural evolution and archaeological finds, making the museum the perfect companion to the basilica next door.
