Introduction

The Clérigos Tower is Porto's most recognizable landmark — a 76-metre Baroque bell tower by the Italian architect Nicolau Nasoni, reached by 225 spiral steps to the city's finest viewpoint. The adjoining church is famed for its gilded woodcarving. From the top you circle above the Douro, red roofs and winding alleys, grasping Porto's vertiginous urban fabric.
