Introduction

The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC), in Broadbeach just south of Surfers Paradise, opened on 29 June 2004 as the Gold Coast's first and only purpose-built convention venue and Australia's largest regional convention centre. Owned by the Queensland Government, it features an arena seating about 5,000, roughly 6,000 square metres of exhibition space, 15 meeting rooms of varying sizes and more than 1,400 underground car-parking spaces; it hosted the basketball finals and preliminary nettball rounds of the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. Its extensive glass facades flood the interiors with natural light, and it can cater for events from 10 to 6,000 people — dinners, conferences, exhibitions, concerts and sports.
