Introduction

The Kasbah of the Udayas stands at the mouth of the Bou Regreg river in Rabat, a defensive citadel begun by the Almohads in the 12th century. Blue-and-white lanes and an Andalusian garden overlook the estuary — Rabat's most poetic, slow-stroll old corner, often called a 'blue-and-white town in the air'.
