Kizimkazi

Introduction

Kizimkazi, located at the southernmost tip of Zanzibar Island, is a tranquil fishing village renowned worldwide for wild dolphin watching. In the early morning, visitors take small boats out to sea to search for bottlenose dolphins and spinner dolphins in the blue waters of the Indian Ocean. The dolphins here are wild and free, unlike captive ones, and whether close encounters happen depends on the dolphins own willingness, making the experience particularly precious. The village itself preserves rich Swahili cultural atmosphere, and its ancient mosque is said to be one of the oldest in East Africa. The coastal coral reefs and mangrove forests are also worth exploring, making this an ideal destination to escape the crowds and connect with nature.
