Introduction
Mount Floeyen, rising about 320 metres just north of central Bergen, is the friendliest of the city's famous Seven Mountains. The Floibanen funicular leaves near the fish market and reaches the summit in six minutes, opening up views over the harbour city, the fjord mouth and the surrounding peaks. The terrace is the best spot to gaze down on Bergen's colourful wooden houses and the Bryggen wharf, magical at sunrise and dusk. Forest trails criss-cross the slopes — an easy 45-minute walk leads back to town, often past grazing sheep in summer, making it a favourite with local families.
