Amboseli National Park is in southern Kenya at the foot of Africa's highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, famous for the magnificent snow mountain backdrop and elephant herds strolling the wilderness — a perfect spot to frame elephants with the snow peak. Dry seasons Jun–Oct and Jan–Feb, with dry clear snow views, are best; the rainy season or clouds may hide the peak. The park has large elephant herds (often huge tusks), plus lion, cheetah, giraffe, zebra, hippo, buffalo and many waterbirds; 4x4 tracking with rules, do not disturb animals. The Maasai live here — respect their culture. Plateau cool mornings/evenings — bring a jacket.
