Introduction
The Tibet Museum, on Luobulinka East Road in Chengguan, Lhasa, is the region's largest comprehensive museum — opened in 1999 and reopened in 2022 after expansion. Its building blends Tibetan motifs with modern galleries; permanent exhibitions trace Tibet's history, folkways, religious art and treasures such as thangka, statues and palm-leaf manuscripts, an authoritative window onto the plateau from prehistory to today. Beside the Norbulingka and peacefully set, it is free (by reservation) — an ideal cultural stop to read Tibet's story and escape the highland sun, and a fine choice for family learning and in-depth travel.
