Introduction
Ocean Expo Park on the Motobu Peninsula is the state-run park built on the site of the 1975 Okinawa International Ocean Exposition, facing the East China Sea and Iejima across broad grounds. Its centre is the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium: the Kuroshio Sea tank holds 7,500 tonnes, where whale sharks and manta rays glide past an 8-metre window, and the Aqua Room lets you look up from below. The park also holds the Dolphin Theater and lagoon, Emerald Beach, the Tropical Dream Center, Okinawa Native Village, manatee and sea-turtle houses — many free. Sunset at Sunset Square with Iejima in silhouette is the peninsula's finest finale.
