Introduction
Hirakawa Zoo in Kagoshima's Hirakawa district opened in October 1972; its 314,000 square metres keep about 130 species and over 900 animals. Popular koala and white-tiger exhibits and a foot bath gazing at Sakurajima and Kinko Bay make it the city's top family zoo.
