Introduction
Reimeikan (Kagoshima Prefectural Center for History and Art) stands on the honmaru site of Tsurumaru Castle and opened in October 1983 as a Meiji centennial project, taking its current name in 2020. Its galleries trace Kagoshima and Satsuma history by era, with folklore, arts, crafts and Satsuma swords.
