Introduction
Aharen Beach curves for some 800 metres of white sand along the southeast coast of Tokashiki Island in the Kerama group, with the uninhabited Hanari-jima floating offshore. The water is famously clear and snorkellers frequently meet sea turtles, making it the representative beach of the Kerama island day-trip. The Marine House on the shore offers changing rooms, lockers, showers and bento lunches and rents snorkel gear, and Chinese-speaking instructors are popular; it is about 15 minutes from Tokashiki Port by village bus or rental car — the classic day return from Naha.
