Introduction
Gangala Valley in Nanjo, Okinawa, is a primeval forest formed about 300,000 years ago when a limestone cave collapsed. Entry is by guided tour only - an 80-minute, 1-km walk through caves and giant banyans, passing cave shelters linked to the Minatogawa people; in 2016 the world's oldest fishhook (c. 23,000 years) was unearthed here. The valley opens from the CAVE CAFE set inside a natural cave, across from Okinawa World (Gyokusendo).
