Introduction

The Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Museum in Higashinada, Kobe, opens the brewery's original sake storehouse, used until the mid-1970s, as a museum of brewing since Hakutsuru's 1743 founding. The first floor displays cedar fermentation vats and tools, with a tasting area for unpasteurised sake found nowhere else; the second floor explains koji and cooling with artefacts and video. A highlight of the Nada-Gogō circuit, admission is free, 9:30-16:30 with last entry 16:00, closed for Obon and year-end/New Year, a 5-minute walk from Hanshin Sumiyoshi.
