Kobe International Exhibition Hall is the core of the Kobe Convention Centre on Port Island, a man-made island in Kobe Bay. It comprises exhibition halls 1 to 3 plus a 3,800-square-metre convention hall seating up to 4,000. Trade fairs, industry shows, academic conferences, corporate events and some concerts run here, making it the city's main exhibition venue. There is no general public opening on non-event days, so check the calendar before travelling. It is a different building from the neighbouring World Memorial Hall at 6-12-2 Minatojima-Nakamachi, an 8,000-seat indoor arena for sport and concerts; the two are often confused when buying tickets or setting a map pin. Port Liner from Sannomiya takes about ten minutes to Shimin Hiroba, then it is a three-minute walk.
