Introduction
Kobe Trick Art: Consulate of Wonders occupies a late-Meiji Western residence in the Kitano Ijinkan quarter that served as the Panamanian Consulate after the war, its cream walls and green windows full of colonial atmosphere. The former consul's office, bedroom, dining room, study and sunroom remain, now filled with 3D illusion paintings you can touch and step into: crushed by a giant Kobe beef steak, shrunk under a teacup, caged from a chasing shark, or posing with a turtle bursting through the wall. Six zones include the Optical Illusion World, Masterpiece World and a maze room — a rare Kitano spot where loud laughter and playful photos are the whole point.
