Introduction

Kitano Ijinkan is a district of Western-style residences in Kitano-chō, Kobe, where foreign merchants lived from the late Edo through Meiji eras. Some twenty ijinkan, including the famous Kazamidori no Yakata and Moegi no Yakata, are preserved and open — Kobe's most representative sightseeing quarter.
