Mirabell garten
Introduction
The Mirabell Garden lies in Salzburg, Austria, a paragon of baroque garden art, created in the early 17th century by Prince-Archbishop Wolf Dietrich for his beloved Salome Alt (under the name Mirabell) and joined with Schloss Mirabell. The garden follows strict geometric symmetry: central parterres, maze-like hedges, marble statues of Greek mythology (the 'Four Elements' and the 'Herculean' figures) and the iconic 'Angel Staircase' leading to the palace — every corner a photo setting. It became world-famous through The Sound of Music, where the children sing around the Pegasus fountain. From the nearby castle hill, the garden, fortress and old town unfold across the Salzach into a postcard panorama.
