Introduction
Hellabrunn opened in 1911 on floodplain woodland along the Isar in southeast Munich and pioneered the 'geo-zoo' concept, arranging animals by continent. Some 700 species live across roughly forty hectares, with the Polar World penguin and polar bear exhibits and the indoor jungle house as headline draws.
